ORA System™Technology

ORA System™Technology is a sophisticated device used to provide real time measurements of the patient’s eye–during cataract surgery, not possible with today’s conventional instruments.

At any point, the surgeon can easily take a measurement, which is then analyzed by ORA System™Technology to provide specific information used to optimize decision-making in correcting the vision of that eye.

Prior to the ORA System™, surgeons were unable to assess the quality of vision during the procedure, and would often have to wait until weeks after the surgery to determine the accuracy of the surgical results.

The Benefits of the ORA System™

There are many important benefits to having the ORA System™ included as part of your vision correction procedure. These include:

ORA System

The revolutionary ORA System™ with VerifEye is a cutting edge technology by Wavetec Vision® that allows Dr. Stephenson to take a picture of the eye at the time of surgery to verify that the nearsightedness, farsightedness or the astigmatism (eyeglass prescription) was correct, and that the exact correct powered Intraocular lens (IOL) was selected. The ORA System™ is also used when doing Limbal Relaxing Incisions (LRI), or placing Toric (astigmatism correcting) lenses. It is also used in post refractive patients (patients that have previously undergone LASIK or RK) distortion.

Dr. Stephenson is committed to providing the highest quality of vision possible for her patients. Using the ORA System™ helps her achieve this goal, because for the first time ever, the surgeon is able to correct the eye prescription in “real time” so the patient may not need any glasses after cataract surgery. Dr. Stephenson is a foremost authority on the ORA SYSTEM™ as she serves on the Medical Advisory Board of WaveTec® and has used the ORA System since 2009. Dr. Stephenson , was the first physician in the United States to offer commercial use of the ORA System™with the new VerifEye technology which has dramatically advanced the successful outcomes of cataract surgery for patients by freeing patients from eyeglasses, often for the first time in their lives.
